Unlicensed Visa Consultant in Thailand Gets 24 Years in Prison for Child Sex

Brian Wright, an unlicensed U.S. visa consultant in Thailand, was found guilty on October 28 of criminal charges for having sex with a 12-year-old child, reports Case Watch Asia.

The Thailand immigration attorneys at Chaninat and Leeds have been assisting Thai and foreign clients in Thailand with visa applications since 1997.

Wright’s trial has lasted over three years in the Pattaya Provincial Court, according to Andrew Drummond. Wright was convicted last month under ss. 277 and 317 of the Criminal Code of Thailand and sentenced to 24 years in prison, according to Case Watch Asia

Wright is currently out of prison on a 400,000 baht (USD$12,217) bail pending appeal.

Andrew Drummond reports that an immigration block has been issued to prevent Wright from leaving the country. He is scheduled to report to the courts on Nov. 28.
